Nitai:- How dare you sit in the last seat of this bus? You are in Class I only. You are not allowed to sit on this seat. Only the students of Class V or Class IV are allowed to sit on this last row.
Nonigopal:- What kind of a rule is this? Anyone can sit on any seat of this bus.
Nitai:- Don’t argue with me further on this issue, otherwise, I will break your nose with a single punch.
Nonigopal:- I can also break your nose with a single punch.
School Bus Conductor:- Hey, what’s the matter! Why both of you are arguing?
Kanaklata:- Nitai, just leave him. He is so younger than you and you are bullying him like anything.
Nitai:- I don’t want to talk to you regarding this matter. Just tell this little nut to leave this last seat.
Kanaklata:- Ei, you little boy, come with me. You will sit with me in the front seat. Come, come!
*******************************
Kanaklata:- What’s your name?
Nonigopal:- My name is Nonigopal.
Kanaklata:- I am Kanaklata. You can call me Kanak didi. I am really surprised by seeing you fighting with your seniors like that. Before boarding this bus, you were crying in front of your mom and now you were giving threats to your seniors.
Nonigopal:- Kanak didi, he was also giving me threats. Anyway, I am expert in fighting. In our village, none of my friends have been able to defeat me by fighting with me.
Kanaklata:- Oh! You are surely going to become a superb specimen of this school. I am damn sure about that. Do you have any brother or sister?
Nonigopal:- No, I have none. But, my mom was telling me that very soon; I will have either a sister or a brother.
Kanaklata:- Ha ha ha….you are so sweet, Noni. Six years back, my mom gave birth to a baby boy, but within a year of his birth, he died of a severe viral fever. Had he been alive, he would have been of your age only. Do you want to have some potato chips? Take it.
Nonigopal:- Hmm….these potato chips are very tasty. What is written on that packet?
Kanaklata:- Fun Munch. So, you like to eat potato chips. Ok, I will bring potato chips for you every day, but you have to promise me that you will never go and sit at the back seats. You have to sit beside me only.
Nonigopal:- Ok, but when can I sit at those back seats?
Kanaklata:- When you will study at Class IV or Class V. Anyway, next year, I will not be there in this morning session school bus, because from Class VI to Class X, it is afternoon session. From next year only, you can start sitting at the last seats of the bus, because after Nitai and his classmates, there are no other adamant students in this bus from Class IV or Class III.

Mr. Bradman:- Good morning to all the students of Standard 1. Today is the first day in your school. Maybe, you will forget this day when you will grow up, but this day is an important day in everybody’s life. From today onwards, you will learn about how to become a good human being. I understand that you such little kids will hardly understand even 10% of my lectures, but still it is my duty to give lectures to you on your very first day in this school. Our school is one of the best disciplined schools of this city. Maintaining Punctuality, Cleanliness, Good behavior and Sincerity is a must for each and every student. Don’t think that I am a very nice and calm person, though I have a very sweet and charming face. Whenever I become angry, I omit the 2nd letter from my surname and I become a bad man. So, Bad Boys, please beware of me. I am expert in caning bad boys. That’s why; I have got promoted as a Headmaster of this reputed school. Anyway, the journey of your school life begins now. Everyone is requested to collect the sweet packets and chocolates from Mrs. Browne at the Sebastian Hall. Thank you!

Mrs. Gonzalves:- Shoo! Shoo! Don’t talk too much. Our Headmaster is taking the class next door. Good morning to all of you. I am your class teacher. Please attend the roll calls by saying present.
************************************
Srabanti:- I am feeling hungry now. When will be the tiffin break?
Bidisha:- Oho! Don’t you know that today, our class will end at 9.30 AM only. Today is the 1st day. That’s why; it’s a half day.

Kaushik Sir:- Everyone listen to me carefully. I am giving you the book lists of Class I. You will get these books at 10% discount from Kolkata Book Stall or 5 Guys’ Stores as our school authority has tie-ups with them.
Dolui:- Dhaassh! My own uncle has a book stall in College Street. He generally gives 25% discount on all school books.
Arindam:- Taai naaki….then I will give you the money. Please buy these books for me also. Don’t tell about it to others.
************************************
Nonigopal:- I thought that on 15th August, we will get a holiday, but alas!
Meenakshi:- Are you not coming tomorrow to school to attend the flag hoisting ceremony? Tomorrow there will be a photo shoot at the playground with our class teacher.
Prakash:- If Nonigopal doesn’t come tomorrow, then I will surely eat his sweets packet.
Nonigopal:- Oh! There will be sweets also. Ok, then I will surely come to school tomorrow to celebrate the Independence Day.
************************************
Revathi:- Jana Gana mana, adhinayaka, jaya he…bharata bhagya bidhataa….
*********************************
Arindam:- You really have a sweet voice. I was admiring your voice, when you were singing our national anthem while standing on the stage.
Revathi:- Thanks! I have a music teacher in my house. My mom is a professional singer of both Malayalam and Bengali songs. My dad is a Bengali professor of BangoBidya College. That’s why; my mom is also staying in this city.
Arindam:- I am not interested in knowing all your family details. You have a good voice. That’s enough for me.
****************************************
Mrs. Gonzalves:- Satya has stood 1st in this class with 98% marks. Revathi stood 2nd with 95% marks and Nonigopal stood 3rd with 90% marks. Arindam stood 1st from the last though he has secured 83% marks. Day after tomorrow, the report cards and certificates will be given to you in the Parents-Teacher meeting. Students, whose parents will not come on that day, will not get their report cards and cannot join the Class II till their parents physically come and meet me.
Arindam:- Uff….I really hate the parents-teacher meeting. It is like adding salts to the wounds.
Bidisha:- Ha ha ha…I have got 84% marks. I will also experience the salts on my wounds on that day, he he he…
