SAINT SEBASTIAN SCHOOL (EPISODE - 45) !!!

Vicky (Captain of Red House football team):- Sir, this year, we will surely put up a good fight in the Inter-House football.
Richards (In-Charge of Red House):- Oh! Every year, you people put up a fight but can’t lift the trophy of Inter-House football. By the way, I am impressed to see that this year you people have included many junior students from Class VI and VII in the Red House football squad. By today afternoon, the fixture of the Inter-House football will get displayed in our school notice board. Best of Luck!
Vicky:- Thank you, Sir!
***********************************************************************
Biswajit (Vice-Captain of Yellow House football team):- Sir! This year, we don’t have any good players in the midfield area. We have good strikers and good defenders but not a single game-maker in the midfield region.
Mr. Bairagi (In-Charge of Yellow House):- Hmm…then you people have to play extreme football only. Either you go for full attack or full defense, because ball possession game will give your opposition team a chance to create more opportunities for goal from the midfield area. Anyway, as per the fixture for this year, the first game is between Yellow House and Blue House. Play like the defending champions. Best of Luck!
*********************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Oh! It seems that the Yellow House team is playing the game to prove that they are the defending champions. They are leading the match by 6-0 against the Blue House. The body language of all the players of Blue House is totally down; as if they want to hear the final whistle as early as possible. Yes! The referee, Mr. Richards has blown the final whistle. Yellow house has won their first match of this tournament.
*******************************************************************
Subir Sir (In-Charge of Blue House):- Chee! Chee! Chee! Ota ki ekta football khela hocchilo…pathetic football…They have given 6 goals.
Ritwik (Captain of the Blue House football team):- What to do! I never expected that our new goalkeeper, Janardan of Class VII is such a weak goal-keeper.
Subir Sir:- Now, don’t blame everything on the goal-keeper. I have watched the entire match as a linesman. Janardan has saved at least 4 sure-shot goals. He is a good goal-keeper, but, not a single defender was giving good support to him. This team has a very weak defense line-up.
Arindam (Vice-Captain of the Blue House football team):- We never expected that the Yellow House team will play the 2-by-2 flank strategy football.
Subir Sir:- When you understood that they were creating opportunities by utilizing their right wing striker and left wing striker as rapid passers to the two central forward strikers, you could have increased the defense people in the central area of our penalty box instead of going for the man-to-man marking.
Kanchan:- It is easier said than done, Sir. The Yellow House strikers were giving accurate passes to each other and that too with absolute accuracy. We took some time to understand their game-plan, but, by that time, they already scored 6 goals against us within 40 minutes of the match. At least, in the last 20 minutes of the match, we defended well. We will surely try to play better football against the Green House in the next match.
*****************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Oh! What a shot from such a long distance! The ball swung in the air a little bit to beat the goalkeeper by a fraction. Druva, the student from Class VI of Red House team has scored a goal in the 55th minute of the match. Red House has won the match against Green House by 1-0.
****************************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar (In-Charge of Green House):- You people have missed three easy chances to score a goal.
Santu (Captain of Green House football team):- It is bad luck, madam! Shekhar’s shot hit the bar post once. Even the header from Dalveer hit the upper bar post.
Mrs. Samaddar:- Hmm…ok…try to win the match against Yellow House in the next encounter.
***************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Strange! Is it the same Yellow House team that played against the Blue House in their previous match to score 6 goals. In this match, the Yellow House team is playing a defensive game and the Green House team is looking frustrated as they are yet to score a goal despite playing attacking football in the entire match. The referee has blown the final whistle. The match ended in a goalless draw.
**************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Tulsicharan of Blue House had no other choice. He had to tackle Suraj of Red House; otherwise, Suraj would have surely scored a goal. Mr. Richards has shown the Red Card to Tulsicharan. Arjun of Red House is going to take the penalty shot and he has scored the goal. After the 1st half of the match, Red House is leading by 1 goal.
*************************************************************
Ranadev:- We are down to 10 men now and trailing by 1 goal.  What should we do now?
Binay:- I think the best option will be to play possession football now. Keep on wasting the time. We should not allow the Red House team to create any opportunity.
Kestolal:-Hmm…that’s a nice idea! For the first 20 minutes, we will slow down the game intentionally. Let the Red House players do all the hard work for the first 20 minutes. We will keep our stamina in reserve. In the last 10 minutes of the match, we will pounce on them, when they will feel somewhat tired. At any cost, we have to at least draw this match.
*************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- In the 2nd half, both the teams have played boring football till now. Only 2 minutes to go and the Blue House team have got a free kick just outside the penalty box of the Red House. Sandipan is going to take the free kick. Oh! The ball got struck at the right bar post and rebounded. Arindam of Blue House flicked the rebounded ball towards the center region of the penalty box of Red House. Samanta gave a perfect header to send the ball into the net. Oh! Yes! That’s the equalizer for Blue House at the last minute of the match. The match between Blue House and Red House has ended in a 1-1 draw.
************************************************************
Subir Sir:- Both the Yellow House and the Red House have got 4 points in their 2 matches. On the other hand, both the Blue House and the Green House have got only 1 point in 2 matches. So, the upcoming match against Green House is very vital for us. We have to score at least 3 goals against the Green House to stay in the hunt for reaching the final.
Arindam:- Sir, if we win against Green House, we will have 4 points. In the Net Goal Difference, Red House will still reach the final even if they lose the match against Yellow House.
Subir Sir:- Hmm…I know that, but, still, there is no harm in trying. You never know, when the luck will start favoring you from nowhere.
*************************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- My goodness! Blue House team has played fantastic football to thrash the Green House team by 4-0. Frankly speaking, the Green House team does not have great finishers. The strikers of Green House team are good in creating opportunities but they are that much bad in putting the ball into the net. Anyway, after this match, the Blue House is at 4 points. So, as per the goal difference now, Red House is still ahead of Blue House. If Red House cannot score a goal against Yellow House, and if Yellow House can score at least 5 goals against the Red House, then Blue House will be in the final. That’s a weird possibility. Red House has the 90% chance to reach the final. If Red House is in the final, they will surely win the trophy as they are the most balanced squad in this tournament.
*************************************************************
Bairagi Sir:- Red House football team is like an under-current. You never know, when that current will bring whispering death for you. If Red House reaches the final, it will be very tough for us to retain the trophy. We are already in the final as we have a very healthy net goal difference. Blue House is already far behind us in goal difference and Red House have to score at least 6 goals to beat us in terms of goal difference. So, we have nothing to lose in the next match, but, we want a very weak team as our competitor in the final match. Go for the goals and nothing else.
************************************************************
Mr. Richards:- Oh! It was a nightmare for my team. The Yellow House football team demolished our Red House football team by 8-0. I think; the Yellow House will lift the trophy this time again. Every year, Red House starts off well with a balanced squad but fails to reach the final. In that sense, Blue House is always lucky to reach the final.
Mr. Roland:- Ok! Ok! I can understand your feelings at this moment. It is very harsh as a referee to see his team losing a football match by that huge margin of goals. The final match will be on this Thursday. Hmm…I will also be present at the Eastern Park to watch the final match.
***********************************************************
Mukesh:- Uff! I can’t believe it. Am I still in my dream! In my wildest dream also, we have never thought that we will be in the final, but, we are there. Subir Sir was right. Sometimes, you never know when luck will start favoring you from nowhere.
Kanchan:- Forget about all these things now. We are in the final. That’s it! Don’t waste your time by thinking about luck, fortunes or destiny. Just focus to play well in the final match to lift the trophy this year.
**********************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- In this final match between Blue House and Yellow House, we are seeing some strange tactics. Ritwik, the captain cum main striker of the Blue House is sitting in the reserve bench. On the other hand, Yellow House team is playing very safe and ball possession football for the first time in this tournament. The way the both teams are playing, as if they are not in a hurry to score any goal. Oh! No! I was wrong. Suddenly, Ranadev has given a long pass towards Pintu. The Yellow House defenders are appealing for offside, but, the linesman, Subir said it is onside. Pintu took a left-footed shot at the goal and he succeeded in it. Blue House is leading by 1 goal now.
********************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- 23 minutes have passed in this match. The Blue House team is appealing for a handball inside the penalty box of Yellow House. Mr. Richards showed a Yellow Card to Rakesh of Yellow House. Tulsicharan is going to take the penalty shot and it is a goal. Blue House is now leading by 2-0.
*********************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Hardayal passed the ball to Rohan. Rohan dribbled the ball to pass through two defenders of Blue House and steered the ball diagonally towards Mrityunjay. Mrityunjay took the shot but the Blue House goalkeeper saved it and the ball went out for a corner. Mihir is going to take the corner kick. Oh! That’s a perfect corner kick. Rabin was unmarked. Rabin received the ball and pushed it into the right corner of the net. Yellow House has given back 1 goal to make the score line 2-1. Mr. Richards has blown the whistle to mark the end of this 1st half.
******************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- 37 minutes of the match has passed. Yellow House team is now playing the conquest football. They are spreading out in the field to conquer the territory of Blue House. Yellow House is desperately looking for an equalizer. Hardayal is sprinting in from the left flank. Oh! No! Arindam of Blue House has tackled Hardayal of Yellow House. The referee showed the Yellow Card to Arindam. Nonigopal is going to take the free-kick for the Yellow House. What a left-footed free kick! The ball swung too much in the air to beat the Blue House goalkeeper. Yellow House has got the equalizer. The score is now 2-2.
*****************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- 46 minutes have passed. Now, we are seeing the substitution for Blue House team. Samanta is going out and the Blue House Captain, Ritwik is stepping in. Maybe, Ritwik has kept himself in the reserve bench because of the incident that happened last year. In the last year’s final, Ritwik was badly fouled by Nonigopal of Yellow House. Though, Nonigopal was shown the Red Card in that final match, the Yellow House lifted the cup. This time, the Blue House team changed their strategy a little bit. Let us see, how that strategy really works in favor of Blue House. Oh! In the meanwhile, Amit of Yellow House has got a loose ball and netted the ball very easily. It is a poor defense by the Blue House team. The Yellow House is now leading the match by 3-2.
****************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- Only 4 more minutes are left. After the entrance of Ritwik in the field, Blue House is looking like a dangerous attacking team altogether. Already, Ritwik has taken 4 shots in the goal. The Yellow House goalkeeper has saved them all. Only 2 minutes left. Sandipan is dribbling the ball. Nonigopal tackled him. Blue House has been given the free-kick. Ritwik is going to take the shot. No, it missed the target. The linesman has declared that only 1 minute is there for the injury time. The Yellow House goalkeeper is intentionally taking a long time to take the goal kick. Mr. Richards has shown the Yellow Card to the Yellow House goalkeeper for delaying to take the shot. The Yellow House goalkeeper has taken the shot. Kanchan of Blue House received the ball and gave a long pass to Pintu. Pintu centered the ball. Arindam received the ball and gave a pass diagonally towards Ritwik who is running in from the left flank. Ritwik dribbled the ball to pass through the first, second and the third defender. Oh! Now, it is a one-to-one situation for Ritwik. The Yellow House goalkeeper is charging in towards Ritwik. Ritwik has tipped the ball upwards with his right leg and then giving a small touch with his left leg. Wow! What a goal by Ritwik.  It is a classic goal with a classic touch. Ritwik is a very smart striker. The way, he deceived the Yellow House goalkeeper is just superb. The score is now 3-3. The referee blew the final whistle, though the match is not over yet. We are heading for Extra-Time with 10 minutes of play in each half. There is no Golden Goal System in this tournament. So, each team will get full 20 minutes of Extra-Time to prove themselves.
******************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- 9 minutes have passed in the 1st half of the Extra-Time. Just now, Binay of Blue House gave a goal in a back-volley shot. After the 1st half of the Extra-Time, Blue House is leading the match by 4-3.
*****************************************************
Commentator Chintu:- In the 2nd Half of this Extra-Time, Yellow House team is playing like Tigers. They are attacking from all ends. Even Ritwik is not getting any ball. Nonigopal , Rakesh and Hardayal are marking Ritwik so well that Ritwik is hardly getting any space to move with the ball. Only 3 minutes left for the final whistle. Blue House team is constantly trying to waste as much time as possible by sending the ball outside the line unnecessarily for throwing. Oh! Now, Blue House is also going for a substitution to steal away some time. Only 135 seconds left for the match to end. Biswajit of Yellow House tackled Sandipan of Blue House. Biswajit is dribbling well and now he has passed the ball to Mrityunjay. Mrityunjay gave a back-heel pass to Rohan. Rohan gave a small touch to put the ball into the net. Actually, the traditional back-heel pass from Mrityunjay deceived the Blue House goalkeeper completely. Back-Heel pass also counts in this modern day football. The score is now 4-4.The referee has blown the final whistle to end the 2nd half. But, the match is still not over yet. Match abhi bhi baaki hain mere dost.
********************************************************
Mr. Roland:- This is the first time in the history of this Inter-House football tournament of our Saint Sebastian School, that a penalty shoot-out is taking place in a final match.
Mrs. Samaddar:- Sir! Both these two teams are playing like Champions. I can hardly differentiate between these two teams. Both teams have played superb football.
Mr. Roland:- Ha ha ha…The Clash of the Champions always make a Classic Final Match of any game. Unlike last year, in this year, I am missing the quarrel between Bairagi and Subir, because both of them are now doing their duty as linesmen. Ha ha ha…both of them are tensed…I think.
Mrs. Samaddar:- No, no, look there. Both Subir and Bairagi have got a break and talking with each other there.
*******************************************************
Subir Sir (In-Charge of Blue House):- I really wonder why there is no Golden Goal System in this tournament.
Mr. Bairagi (In-Charge of Yellow House):- Had Yellow House scored the first goal in the Extra-Time; I would have asked the same question to you. But, in the penalty shoot-out, I think that your boys surely have the edge.
Subir Sir:- No, no, not at all. I have never seen my boys practicing the penalty shoot-out.
Mr. Bairagi:- Yeah! My boys have also not practiced the penalty shoot-out. Actually, we never thought of this type of a situation also. Anyway, in a penalty shoot-out, it is like a game of lottery. Any team can win in a penalty shoot-out, no matter, whether that team is weak or strong.
Subir Sir:- Hmm…I agree with you. But, in a game, you have to find a winner at any cost. Anyway, best of luck. Let us enjoy the penalty shoot-out.
******************************************************
Commenator Chintu:- Blue House has won the toss and decided to go for the first kick. Ritwik is going to take the first shot. Sudesh, the Yellow House goalkeeper has saved the shot. What a save by diving to his right! Biswajit of Yellow House is now going to take the shot. Goal! That’s a goal for Yellow House. Janardan, the Blue House goalkeeper failed to save the shot. Yellow House is leading by 1 goal now. Mukesh of Blue House is going to take their 2nd shot. That’s a goal. Sudesh of Yellow House has been deceived completely. The score is now 1-1. Rakesh of Yellow House is going to take their 2nd shot. Again, it is a goal. The score is now 2-1. Sandipan of Blue House is going to take their 3rd shot. Sandipan missed the target completely. The score is still 2-1. Rajat of Yellow House is going to take their 3rd shot. He missed the target. The score is still 2-1. Ranadev of Blue House is going to take their 4th shot. That’s a fantastic goal. Ranadev gave no chance to the goalkeeper to save that shot. The score is now 2-2. Amit of Yellow House is going to take their 4th shot. Janardan dived to his left, but, Amit took a straight shot to score the goal. The score is now 3-2. Binay of Blue House is going to take their last shot. Oh! The ball went into the net like a bullet. The score is now 3-3. Rohan of Yellow House is going to take their last shot. What a save again by Janardan! Oh! This time, he dived to his left. Well done! Oh! God! Will this match ever end! Now, we are heading towards Sudden-Death. In a Sudden-Death, whichever team takes the lead after the respective single shots; wins the game. If no one wins even after the Sudden-Death, then we will have to go for a Coin Toss to select a winner. The Sudden-Death has started. Pintu of Blue House is going to take their 1st shot of Sudden-Death. That’s a goal. The score is now 4-3. Hardayal of Yellow House is going to take their 1st shot of Sudden-Death. If he misses, then Blue House will win the match. Hardayal scored the goal. The score is now 4-4. Kestolal of Blue House is going to take their 2nd shot of Sudden-Death.  Oh! He missed the target completely. All eyes of the Blue House Team are on Janardan now. Can he save the shot of Rabin of Yellow House? Yes, Janardan has saved it again. Oh! What a goalkeeper he is! The score remains at 4-4. The match is still not over. What a final match! Arindam of Blue House is going to take their 3rd shot of Sudden-Death. What a smart shot! The Yellow House goalkeeper dived to his right and Arindam netted the ball through the other direction. It’s a goal. The score is now 5-4. The pressure is now on Nonigopal of Yellow House who is going to take their 3rd shot of Sudden –Death. Nonigopal has taken the shot. Oh! Boy! This goalkeeper of Blue House, Janardan deserves the man of the match award. The ball was travelling like a bullet towards the right upper corner of the goal post. Janardan saved it by diving like a Superman. Is he a bird! Oh! Finally, the score is 5-4 and the Blue House is the Champion of this Inter-House Football match. Surely, this is one of the best matches that all have witnessed out here at the Eastern Park today. See you again next year. Till then; good bye.
***********************************************************
Blue House football team members:- Hurrah! We are the Champions!
Subir Sir:- Yes! I have always believed that this year, the luck was with us. I was not wrong at all.
Mr. Bairagi:- Congratulations for the victory!  But, you have to appreciate that my boys have really played like the defending champions.
Subir Sir:- Yeah! I really appreciate that.
Mr. Roland:- I think, both the Blue House team and the Yellow House team deserve some special awards and certificates from this school for playing some outstanding football. I am really impressed the way they fought out in the battlefield of the game of football. This year, I am hoping that we will have a very strong School football team to compete well against the Kalyani, Ganganagar and Rishra football teams in the Inter-Branch football tournament.
*********************************************************
Nonigopal (In agony):- Oh! No! How I missed that penalty! I should have taken the shot in the other direction.
Rakesh (Captain of Yellow House football team):- Come on! These things happen in football. After all; this is a penalty shoot-out. Moreover, Janardan is a very good goalkeeper.
Ritwik (Captain of Blue House football team):- Really, at the start of this tournament, I was criticizing Janardan after that first match against you people where you gifted us 6 goals. But, Janardan has made us proud today. Nothing is sweeter than the trophy.
Arindam (Vice-Captain of Blue House football team):- Exactly! Last year, Nonigopal of Yellow House fouled you to make us powerless and won the final match. But, this year, God has given the right punishment to him. Nonigopal will always repent for missing this penalty shot.
Nonigopal :- Hmm…We tried our level best to win the game. But, your Blue House has a better goalkeeper than ours. That’s made the difference. Maybe, I am not so good at penalty shoot-out, but, you can’t deny that Janardan really saved some outstanding penalty shots.
Kanchan:- Ok! Ok! Now, forget about all these things. We have won the trophy. We will give you all a nice treat tomorrow at the canteen.
Biswajit (Vice-Captain of Yellow House football team):- Why tomorrow! You people should give us a treat today itself. After all; you people are champions now…
Ranadev:- Ha ha ha…Ok! Done! We will give the treat today only.
***************************************************************
Mr. Richards:- Sir! This year, our Kolkata Branch football team has won the Inter-Branch football and that too by defeating the Ganganagar football team in their home ground by 4-3. Ritwik, Suraj, Nonigopal and Mrityunjay have scored the goal for us in the final match.
Mr. Roland:- Wow! That’s a great news! Our school football team deserves a grand reception. Our school students have really made us proud this year in almost all types of sports.
