SAINT SEBASTIAN SCHOOL (EPISODE - 50) !!!

Gurcharan:- Why the final match of this year’s Inter-School Cricket tournament is going to be  played in Cossipore ground?
Indranil:- Many schools have objected that one of the finalist teams always get an advantage while playing in their home ground. That’s why; the venue of the final match was declared only after the two semi-finals. Anyway, thanks to you all for coming with us as supporters. Without any supporters in the Cricket ground, we don’t feel motivated to play well in a game of Cricket.
Ganga:-Oh! You don’t need to mention about that. Hey, I think that we have reached the Cossipore ground. We have to get down from our school bus.
*********************************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- Good morning everyone! I am Chintamani Charandas, the commentator of Cossipore Sports Association (CoSA). Welcome to Cossipore Ground on this bright sunny winter morning. Now it is 10.10 AM. The final match between Saint Sebastian School and Assembly of God Church School will start shortly. In the meanwhile, let us see who wins the toss. Giridhari, the captain of Assembly of God Church school tossed the coin up in the air. Indranil, the captain of Saint Sebastian School called, ‘Heads’. Oh! No! It is ‘Tails’. Giridhari has won the toss and he has opted to bat first. Just a second, Giridhari! Why have you opted to bat first? The pitch of this Cossipore Ground has too much grass on it. It is a lush green pitch. In the morning, due to moisture in the grass, the ball may swing a lot.
Giridhari:- It is already around 10.15 AM or so. So, for the first 5 overs, there will be some deadly swings from the seam bowlers, but, after that, it will ease out. As the game progresses, the pitch will help the spinners a little bit.
Commentator Chintamani:- So, according to you, it is really a competitive pitch.
Giridhari:- Oh! Yeah! Exactly, it is indeed!
Commentator Chintamani:- Best of luck to you and your team.
Giridhari:- Oh! Thanks!
Commentator Chintamani:- So, Indranil, is it a tough luck for you to lose a vital toss?
Indranil:- Chasing any good score in a final match is always an extra pressure. Had I won the toss, I would have also opted for batting first despite knowing the fact that this pitch will become much better for batting as the game progresses. Maybe, some spinners will get some help from it. Anyway, whichever team plays well in the final match always wins it, no matter, whether that team bats first or bowls first.
Commentator Chintamani:- Ok! Best of luck to you and your team!
Indranil:- Thanks!
Commentator Chintamani:- So, ladies and gentleman. The game will start just after few minutes. Assembly of God Church School Team will bat first.
*****************************************************************
Deepak (while clapping):- Wow! What a bowling! Maiden over in the 1st over! Abhay is really a good disciplined bowler.
Mr. Bairagi (Sports Teacher of Saint Sebastian School):- He got selected for the first time in the school team. Earlier, he used to bowl in side-arm action, but, now, he is bowling with a high and straight arm action. He is running in with great speed and aggression. Actually, the timing of his jump before releasing the ball gives him an added advantage to maintain a good line and length.
Hardayal:- Ehe! The 2nd over is turning out to be very expensive. Harish has already given 12 runs in his four deliveries.
*************************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- After 10 overs, the Assembly of God Church school team has scored 103 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Daniel and Sandesh are on the crease. The game will resume again after a drinks break for 5 minutes.
*************************************************************
Indranil:- What’s wrong with you guys! If they make a score around 200 runs or so, it will be very difficult for us to chase it down. They have good bowlers in their squad.
Badal:- Indranil daa, your strategy is also wrong. When you are seeing that their batsmen are totally playing the game like pinch hitters, you could have gone for defensive field strategy instead of attacking field strategy.
Ratul (Vice-captain of the Saint Sebastian School):- No, because of the attacking field strategy, we have been able to take 6 wickets so far. Frankly speaking, we are not bowling according to our field set-up. That’s the real problem.
************************************************************
Chinmoy:- Are they discussing or quarrelling among themselves?
Satya:- Actually, this year, Indranil is the only guy from class X in this team. All the other players are from junior classes. There are some junior students who pretend to know everything though they know nothing about the strategies in Cricket.
Kanchan:- This team lacks a match winning bowler or rather a wicket-taking bowler. Abhay can bowl several maiden overs but he cannot be regarded as a wicket-taking bowler. Rather, I will regard Kamalesh, the left arm spinner, a wicket taking bowler as he always tempts a batsman to go for big shots and get out in that process. Already, Kamalesh has bagged 3 important wickets in this match. Thanks to Pratik for his terrific fielding as the two run-outs happened due to his direct hits at the stumps. Inranil got a wicket, but, Abhay is yet to get one despite bowling well.
Jahar:- When Courtney Walsh used to bowl very economically, everyone used to take risks on the overs of Curtly Ambrose. In that process, Curtly Ambrose always used to get more wickets and ultimately he became a wicket-taking bowler for West Indies.
Bhavesh:- Ok! Ok! We have understood what you are trying to say. Anyway, the game has resumed. Let us see what happens next.
***********************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- After 14 overs, the score of Assembly of God Church team is 146 for 6. Indranil has given the ball to Suryakant for the next over.
***********************************************************
Mr. Bairagi:- Suryakant is not a bowler. He is a batsman. What the hell is Indranil trying to do?
Tamang:- Sir, this team is short of one reputed 5th bowler. That’s why; he is filling up the gaps.
**********************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- The left arm medium pacer took 3 wickets in this over. What an over! He is unlucky to miss his hat-trick chance, but getting 3 wickets in an over is not a matter of joke either. He took the wickets of Sandesh, Gabriel and Ajitesh. Nabarun will face the 1st ball of the next over. The score is now 151 for 9 after 15 overs.
*********************************************************
Abhay:- Indranil daa, I have only 1 over left to bowl. You are telling me to bowl now. Keep my over for the 19th or 20th over.
Indranil:- Already, 9 wickets down and the score has past 150 mark. Suryakant has brought us back in this match again. Go for that Tailender’s wicket. I want their innings to get finished in this over at any cost. You don’t have to maintain a good line and length. Just take a wicket anyhow in this over.
*******************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:-  Wow! The Tailender, Nabarun just swung his bat in two consecutive deliveries to get two boundaries in a row. On the other end, Daniel is on 49. Daniel was hoping that Nabarun would take a single, but, he went for 2 boundaries in 2 balls he faced. Abhay is running in for his third delivery in this over. Nabarun flicked the ball towards fine leg to steal a run. Daniel is on strike. All the supporters of Assembly of God Church school are shouting, Daniel, Daniel; to cheer him up to score a half century in this final match. Abhay is now running in from the Right Arm Round end instead of Right Arm Over end. Bowled! Clean Bowled! What a delivery! A perfect out-swinging Yorker delivery targeted at the small gap between the bat and the batsman’s legs to uproot the off-stump completely. Bad luck for Daniel to get out at 49. The Assembly of God Church School team is all out in 16.4 overs for 160 runs. We have to wait and watch whether a target of 161 runs is achievable on this pitch or not. Till date, not a single team has been able to chase down more than 140 runs in a 20 overs game in this pitch of Cossipore while batting second.
********************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- After 12 overs, the Saint Sebastian School team has scored 111 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In the last over itself, Suniel caught and bowled Ratul. Now, Indranil and Jignesh are on the crease. In this match, Indranil came to bat at 5th down by sending Badal at the top of the batting order. To some extent, that strategy has worked as Badal scored 33 runs in just 15 balls to increase some momentum.
*******************************************************
Indranil:- What is this, man! You have just thrown away your wicket. I told you not to take any such risk and that too against Suniel.
Jignesh:- Sorry, Indranil daa, the ball was so easy-looking that I felt confident to hit a six but failed to do so. The wicket-keeper was also too quick to remove the bells.
*******************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- After the stump-out of Jignesh, Abhay is coming in to bat. Aah! It seems that Abhay is holding a stick rather than a bat. What a style of holding a bat! Suniel is running in to bowl the last delivery of this over. My goodness! The ball kissed the top edge of the bat to beat the wicket-keeper and a third slip to run away towards the boundary rope. The ball had an awkward bounce which surprised everyone. That’s a lucky four runs for the Saint Sebastian Team. They need 23 runs in 12 deliveries with 2 wickets in hand.
******************************************************
Indranil:- You don’t need to take any unnecessary risks. Just take a single and give the strike to me. Sudhangshu is a very fast bowler. I want to score as much as possible in this over. We can’t keep too many runs for the last over and that too against Suniel.
*****************************************************
Bhanu:- Now, we are really feeling some tensions. 23 runs in 2 overs. It is quite tough but not impossible.
Arindam:- Cricket is a very funny game. You never know what type of thrills are waiting for you in a Cricket match, but, whosoever has been able to keep their head cool and nerves strong has won the match for maximum times in competitive situations.
****************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- After hitting a boundary at the first ball of this over, Abhay tried to hit a six in the mid wicket area, but due to bad timing, the ball fell in the safe hands of Ajitesh. Kamalesh, the left handed tail-ender has come in to bat. Giridhari is changing his field set-up now. Sudhangshu bowled a wide ball at Kamalesh. Actually, the left and right hand combination of batting has unsettled the rhythm of a fast bowler for many a times. Kamalesh has taken a single in this delivery. Indranil is facing the fourth delivery of this over and completely beaten by a beautiful delivery. Sudhangshu is running in again. Indranil hit the ball for a straight six. What a shot! Indranil is going to face the last delivery of this over. He went for a square-cut short. Giridhari at gully position surely saved a sure boundary, but, cannot stop Indranil from stealing a single. Saint Sebastian School Team requires 10 runs in 6 balls with 1 wicket in hand to win this tournament.
**************************************************
Rabi (while biting his nail and speaking out in a very excited tone):- Come on! Saint Sebastian School. You can do it.
Nonigopal:- Oyi…oto uttejona kiser…It is still anybody’s game. Suniel has taken 2 wickets in his 3 overs by giving only 16 runs. So, it is not an easy task to score 10 runs in his over.
Mainak (Very Tensed):- The pitch is also helping the spinners.
Gurcharan:- Oye…tum log…saale…khaali peeli tension karanda…oye..mard ka khel hain…mard ka dil leke match dekho yaar…
Raja:- Hussh! Guys! Please maintain silence. The last over is about to start.
*************************************************
Commentator Chintamani:- Completely beaten, though, lucky not to get bowled out as the ball just missed the off-stump. Suniel is going to bowl the second delivery of this over. Indranil hit the ball hard towards the mid-off region, but, the fielder, Ranjit saved a sure boundary. Oh! Indranil refused to take the single as he doesn’t want Kamalesh to come on strike in this crunch situation. Indranil is about to face the third ball of this over. Lovely timing! He found the gap in the extra cover region to get a boundary for his team. Suniel is going to bowl his fourth delivery of his last over in this match. How’s that! Yes, Suniel has appealed for an LBW, but turned down by the Umpire. In the meanwhile, Indranil is running for a leg-bye run. Oh! It is a direct hit at the stumps by Sandesh, but, Indranil utilized that overthrow to steal another single run. Indranil is going to face the 5th ball of this over. My goodness! What a bowler Suniel is! Indranil could not even understand whether it was off-spin or leg-spin as he was completely beaten in a top class delivery. The ball just missed the bell of the middle stump by a whisker. 1 ball remaining, 4 runs required! What a tensed moment for both the teams. Giridhari and Suniel are taking their time to have their field set-up absolutely right for the last delivery of the match. They are now sending their best fielders in the deep boundary area. Suniel is now going to bowl the last delivery. Oh! Indranil hit that ball hard towards the mid-off boundary. The ball went too high and high. It is taking some more seconds to come down. Aah! The ball was going outside the boundary rope, but, Mihir released the ball inside the boundary rope in an acrobatic style after taking a terrific catch. Mihir made sure that he released the ball inside the boundary rope before stepping on that side of the boundary rope. Already, Indranil and Kamalesh have taken three runs. Kamalesh is running in towards the danger zone. Ranjit threw the ball towards the stumps. It is a direct hit at the stumps. What an arm! But, as per the Umpire, the throw at the stumps was late by few seconds. Saint Sebastian School may not have got a boundary in the last ball, but, they ran for four singles. It is a lesson to be learned from them. After hitting the ball towards the boundary, just run without even thinking about the consequences. What a match! What a victory! What a Champion Team! This team was tottering at 67 for 4 at one time and came back well to chase down 160 runs. Their final score is 161 for 9 in 20 overs. Badal has been declared as the Man of the Match.
*********************************************************************
Students of Saint Sebastian School at Cossipore Ground (While playing with Red Colored Abir and Lanka Patka Fire Cracker):- Hip Hip Hurrah! Three Cheers for Saint Sebastian School! Hip Hip Hurrah!
Mr. Bairagi:- Ehe! Arrey! You all have lifted Indranil high up in the air. Bring him down now. Hey, Jahar, bring Indranil down from your shoulder now.
Jahar:- Ok! Ok! He he he…Indranil is looking like a Red colored ghost now with lots of Red colored Abir (Gulaal) on his face.
Mr. Bairagi:- Bravo! Indranil, Bravo! You and your teammates have made everyone of us very proud.
Indranil:- I am feeling very happy and satisfied now. I learned one thing from today’s match. If you have self-confidence and the urge to win a match by any means, then you will surely never stop fighting even if your chips are down and out temporarily for some moments in a match.
Mr. Bairagi:- Every match in every game may teach you a new lesson. That’s what makes the subject of Sports a very interesting subject. Come on! We will have a party after the presentation ceremony. Just go and lift the cup with your teammates.
*******************************************************************
Sucharita:- Accept this Red Rose!
Dolui:- Are you giving me this Red Rose on your own or has your mother told you to give me this Red Rose?
Sucharita:- No, I am giving you this rose as a mere formality. Every year, before the farewell party, it is a formality in our school to give Red Roses by the junior students to the senior students who are going to get the farewell party.
Dolui:- Aha re! It is just a formality. Then, your mom may not be so happy about it.
Sucharita:- As you are giving Red Signals, so, how can I give you the Red Roses of Love, which is beyond any formalities.
Dolui:- I just wanted to confirm whether you are waiting for my Green signals or not. I also love you, dear.
Sucharita:- It is so irony for me that you are confessing it on your farewell day. Anyway, we will deal about it later. Now, you are hereby requested to go inside the auditorium and get seated.
****************************************************************
Mr. Roland:- Good afternoon Students!
Students of Class X inside the auditorium:- Good afternoon, Sir!
Mr. Roland:- Today is your farewell day. It is the last day of your school life. If you go back through your memory lanes, you will feel as if you just got admitted to a school as a new student just a few moments back. But, you have to admit that it was a journey of so many years. Within these many years of your school life, you have tasted almost all the flavors of life though in small amounts. Whatever a person learns in his or her school life, he or she never forgets it. A skeleton is the backbone of the body structure of a human being. Similarly, the school life of a person is the backbone of his life. No matter, wherever you go after your school life, no matter, wherever you live after your school life, your heart can never forget the school life. Even if you grow old, the memories of your school life will still remain fresh in your heart. Many people say that we went to school only to study, study and study. But, the real truth is that a school life is not only about studies. It is about knowing yourself, your friends, your teachers, your society, your motherland, your planet, etc. Always remember that you are a student of Saint Sebastian School. Always try to make us proud by becoming a proud citizen of this world. I hope that all of you will become a good human being in the future to contribute towards our society to make our planet a happy and peaceful place to live in. Probably, this batch is the last naughty batch of this school.
Students of Saint Sebastian School inside the auditorium:- Ha ha ha…
Mr. Roland:- Yeah! You people can laugh at yourselves, but, everything in this Universe has its own pros and cons. This batch is so naughty that I felt myself as a Principal of a College rather than a school. But, that’s always not so bad.  What I liked in your batch is that you guys have unity among yourselves. Your junior groups are very well-behaved, too studious and too disciplined and hence they are selfish too. They don’t have unity among themselves. They keep on fighting among themselves if they are given to do any task. But, in your batch, almost all of you are hooligans, but, whenever, we have given you any task to perform, you people got united like ants or bees or make that task a complete and beautiful one. In Extra-curricular activities, this batch has contributed so much for this school. Your junior batches lack passion in Extra-curricular activities. Studying well and getting high marks in the exam can never make you a complete human being. You need some extra feathers in your wings to fly high in the sky like an Eagle. The Extra-curricular activities provide you that platform. I am proud that you people have made us proud by winning so many competitions or tournaments for this school. Wish you all good luck for the Secondary Exam. I am hoping that this batch will also make us proud in the Secondary Exam result of this year. Don’t think that your relationship with this school ends after this farewell party. Every Ex-Student of this school automatically becomes a part of the Alumni of this School. Anytime, you need any help from me, never hesitate to come to me. When you are in this school, you are my student. When you will pass out of this school, then also, you will remain as my student. A student-teacher relationship never ends because it is the only relationship of the Universe where any learning is a two-way process. So, my dear students, here I end my lectures. Be happy and always make others happy. Have a great career ahead in your life. Thank you!
Students of Saint Sebastian School inside the auditorium:- Thank you, Sir!
Mrs. Samaddar:- Students! The farewell party begins now. Students of Junior Batches will perform a dance based on a dance drama of Rabindranath Tagore.
*******************************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar:- Students! All of you are requested to take your respective food packets from Mrs. Choudhury now. We will have a short lunch sessions for half an hour. After that, we will have a fashion show where all the students have to walk on the ramp.
Students of Class X inside the auditorium:- Ha ha ha…
*******************************************************************
Tiya:- Wow! The food packet is too good. Four Kachuris with Aloo curry, 1 Son Papri sweet, 1 Ladoo, 1 Pantua and 1 Nalen Gurer Sandesh.
Santu:- This is not over yet. Our school is going to have its first Cold Drinks Machine at the canteen. Due to marketing campaigns, we have been allowed to drink two cups of cold drinks from that cold drinks machine. There are four flavors of cold drinks at that cold drinks machine. Thums Up, 7 Up, Limca and Fanta.
Raqeeb:- Oh! Come on! Let’s go near the Cold Drinks Machine.
*******************************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar:- Now, we are going to start the ramp walk. The Judges for this Fashion Show are Mrs. Poddar, Mrs. Kundu and Subir Sir. All the boys of Class X are requested to walk on the ramp.
******************************************************************
Girls of Class X inside the auditorium:- Ha ha ha…what a ramp walk by the boys! Ha ha ha…as if they are having a walk at the vegetable market.
Mrs. Samaddar:- Hussh…girls…please don’t laugh at them. They are trying very hard to walk on the ramp. Just after their ramp walk, all you girls are requested to walk on the ramp.
*****************************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar:- Ok! After the first round of ramp walk, our judges have selected three boys and three girls for the final round. I would request Mrs. Poddar to declare the names of three boys.
Mrs. Poddar:- Prakash, Raghav and Ravishankar.
Mrs. Samaddar:- I would request these three boys to come on the dais. Now, Subir Sir will declare the names of three girls.
Subir Sir:- Rihanna, Sudeshna and Riku. Please come on the dais.
Mrs.Samaddar:- The final round starts now. Here all the competitors have to do the ramp walk for 2 times. In the first ramp walk of this round, it is a single ramp walk and in the second ramp walk of this round, it is a dual ramp walk where a boy has to pair up with a girl to walk on the ramp.
****************************************************************
Arindam:- Hey, Tamang, your Rihanna is really too hot and sexy.
Tamang:- No, I think, your Riku is hotter than Rihanna.
Arindam:- My Riku! What the hell do you mean by that? She is not mine.
Tamang:- Ha ha ha…Why don’t you have someone with you? You have no girlfriend, that’s why; you are looking at the sexy thighs of Rihanna and I am feeling insecure.
Arindam:- Ha ha ha…I have always admired the hotness of Rihanna. I don’t care about her boyfriend. After this school life, whenever you go for a break up with Rihanna, just give me a call at my telephone, I will become her new boyfriend.
Tamang:- Ha ha ha…saale…kaminey…You want to have a bite on each and every sugarcane of a farmland.
Tiya:- Excuse me! Both of you are drunk or what! The way both of you are giggling and hugging each other. Oh! Something must be wrong with you too.
Arindam and Tamang:- ha ha ha…
Joseph:- It’s the Rihanna effect, baby.
Tiya:- Joseph, please don’t call me baby. I have seen in many adult English films, where during those intercourses, a man calls her girlfriend as baby. I am not that type; Ok! You better understand it! Moreover, I am not a little baby…uuh…
Joseph:- Ei…Tiya…aha..Don’t get angry on this silly issue…please…
Tamang:- Ha ha ha…Now, Joseph is feeling the heat.
***********************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar:- We have completed the Ramp Walk Round. Now, it is the Question Answer session.
Mrs. Poddar:- Prakash, if a terrorist attacks you suddenly on a busy street, will you abide by the Non-Violence theory of Mahatma Gandhi?
Prakash:- As a terrorist has an AK-47 with him, the first thing I need to do is to run away from him to save myself. After hiding myself in a safe place, I will take a call whether to kill that terrorist or just let him do what he is doing. Let the military people or the policemen gun down that terrorist. As a common man of India, if I take up guns on my hands to kill a terrorist, then I will become a criminal in the hands of Indian law. My family may suffer if I go to a jail.
Mrs. Poddar:- Ok! Thank you!
Mrs. Kundu:- Raghav, after living a happily married life with your wife for some years, you get to know that your wife is having HIV positive virus in her body. Will you file a divorce case against her?
Raghav:- No, I will not file a divorce. I will rather give her full encouragement to fight against AIDS. I will remain by her side forever as a husband and a good friend too.
Mrs. Kundu:- Thank you!
Subir Sir:- Ravishankar, assume that you are a poor farmer. If I give you 10,000 bucks, what will you do with that?
Ravishankar:- I will invest it on farming. I will buy good quality pesticides, modern equipments of farming. I will also invest on artificial irrigation facilities, so that I can continue my farming even if there is a bad monsoon. I will also invest that money to build a small modern granary where the grains will remain stored.
Subir Sir:- Ok! Thank you!
Mrs. Samaddar:- Now, the questions will be asked to three girls.
Mrs. Poddar:- Rihanna, assume that you are in a love relationship with a boy for the past 6 years. Now, you have got a good job. Your boyfriend wants to marry you but his parents don’t want a working daughter-in-law for their family. In this situation, will you resign from your job to get married to your boyfriend or will you go for a break-up?
Rihanna:- First, I will try to convince the parents of my boyfriend that in this modern era, a woman can maintain the Work-Life Balance. If they are not convinced, then I will request my boyfriend to come out of his parent’s house and settle elsewhere by marrying me. If my boyfriend is not willing to keep my request, then I will go for a break-up to concentrate on my job and career only.
Mrs. Poddar:- Ok! Thank you!
Mrs. Kundu:- Sudeshna, do you think that Rajib Gandhi did a big mistake by giving support to the Sri Lankan Government to deal with the LTTE forces?
Sudeshna:- No, Rajib Gandhi has done nothing wrong. As a neighboring nation of Sri Lanka; India has full right to support that nation to kill all the terrorists of LTTE. As Rajib Gandhi got assassinated, these questions are getting raised. Tamils are Indians, but a section of Tamils are not doing the right thing by trying to conquer some islands of Sri Lanka.
Mrs. Kundu:- Ok! Thank you!
Subir Sir:- Riku, assume that you love a boy who hates you so much. How will you convince him that you truly love him?
Riku (somewhat stunned to hear the question and started answering after a pause for a few seconds):- I will first try to know the reasons behind that kind of hatred towards me. After knowing the reasons, I will try to convince him that he is having some misunderstanding about me. Maybe, in certain cases, if I am guilty, then I will beg for forgiveness. I will accept any punishment from him. But, I cannot tolerate that he will keep on hating me all the time. That’s itself a big punishment for me.
Subir Sir:- Ok! Thank you! Don’t take that question personally. That was just a mere question.
Mrs. Samaddar:- The results of this fashion show will be declared just after 5 minutes.
**************************************************************************
Revathi:- Why the hell are you giving punishment to Riku?
Arindam:- I don’t hate her anymore.
Revathi:- No, you are not telling the truth. You are having a girlfriend. That’s fine! But, that does not mean that you will not give any space for love to your friends who love you so much.
Arindam:- Hey, Revathi, please don’t start attacking me on this last day of our school.
Revathi:- No, I am not attacking you. I am just trying to change your mentality towards girls.
Arindam:- What! What the hell do you mean by that? Do you think that I don’t love any girls or what?
Revathi (With moistened eyes):- No, you don’t.
Arindam:- Ei…come to this corner. You deserve a nice hug from me. Please, don’t be so emotional on this last day. Please!
*************************************************************************
Mrs. Samaddar:- Here goes the final result. The Model Boy of this year is Raghav and the Model Girl of this year is Riku. Please give a big round of applause for them.  Now, Yusuf of Class IX will sing a song and then we will wrap up this farewell party.
Yusuf:- My Senior Dadas and Didis…Now, I am going to sing the patent song of all farewell parties in any Indian school.
Students of Saint Sebastian School inside the auditorium:- Ha ha ha…yeah! Sing the song please.
Yusuf:- ‘Chalte…chalte…mere yeh geet yaad rakhna…kabhi alvida na kahana…kabhi alvida na kahana…’ everybody sing with me.
Students of Saint Sebastian School inside the auditorium:- Kabhi alvida na kahana…kabhi alvida naa kahana…
Bhanu:- Bhai Jahar…
Jahar:- Haan bhai Bhanu…
Bhanu:- This is our last day of this school. Let us hug each other.
Joseph:- Ha ha ha…look at our ‘Laurel & Hardy’ of this school. They are hugging at each other. Ei…Ganga, give me a hug.
Ganga:- Oh! Sure! Last hug inside our school premises! Look at Arindam there. She is after the Model Girl now.
Arindam:- Congrats for becoming a Model Girl, Riku. Am I giving you any punishment?
Riku (without uttering any word, she hugged Arindam and then said in a whispering tone):- Today, our school life has ended, but my true love towards you will never end. It will remain in my heart forever, dear.
Yusuf:- ‘Kabhi alvida na kahana’….Thank you! Thank you! Wish you all a very happy life ahead.
Students of Saint Sebastian School inside the auditorium:- Thank you, Yusuf.
Mrs. Samaddar:- The farewell party ends here. Be happy and always keep smiling, no matter wherever you are.
********************************************************************
Tamang:- The farewell party has ended 5 minutes ago and then everyone’s eyes became moistened due to tears. We spend so many years in this school and now our school life has ended.
Ganga:- I have spent more years than you all in this school. I should cry more than you people.
Dolui:- How time passes away; no one knows!
Binodini:- ‘Main Samay hoon, main sabse balban hoon’. Actually, time has the greatest power of all. It has been rightly said in the epic of Mahabharata.
Joseph:- Look at the students of our Class X now. Their eyes are full of tears and side by side, they are also playing Holi with that Red Colored Abir.
Raqeeb:- Ha ha ha…you may not find this type of love and enthusiasm during Holi festival also.
Nonigopal:- I remember the first day of my school. I was crying the whole day by saying that I want to go back home and today on the last day of my school life, I am again crying. This time, I am saying that I don’t want to go out of this school.
Arindam:- God created everything, but forgot to create a Time-Machine for us. Imagine, if I would have a Time-Machine, I would have rewind it to go back to my golden days in junior classes to enjoy myself.
Revathi:- Wow! So sweet of you…uuh…Why don’t you create a Time Machine of your own then. We will all have a ride on it.
All the Students of Class X:- Ha ha ha….
Sumeet:- Guys! We can never forget our school life. No matter, wherever we will be in the future, we will always feel proud that we were the students of this “SAINT SEBASTIAN SCHOOL”.

SAINT SEBASTIAN SCHOOL (EPISODE - 49) !!!

Nonigopal:- Amitabh Bacchan has come back again in Bollywood with his angry image. In the film, ‘Khuda Gawaa’, he regained back his position in Bollywood and now in the film, ‘Mohabbatein’, the Big B has proved himself as an Emperor of Bollywood.
Raqeeb:- Narayan Shankar is good but the man who offered yellow colored flowers to everyone was not so bad either.
Meenakshi:- Thank God! At least in the film, ‘Mohabbatein’, the Shahrukh did not act in his unique ‘Bakra style’.
Rihanna:- Ha ha ha…really, is it so. By the way, I watched the movie, ‘Biwi No.1’. Salman Khan, the playboy ruled the show. Everyone acted so well to make it a very entertaining film. In a supporting role, Anil Kapoor was too good. At the end, Tabu became the Biwi No.1.
Pramanik:- Oho! That poor Karishma Kapoor! Actually, Karishma Kapoor acts well with her favorite co-star, Govinda.
Deepak:- Forget about all those existing stars of Bollywood. I watched the movie, ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hain’. A new star is emerging. His name is Hrithik Roshan, the son of the only Bollywood Hero who acted in films by wearing wigs.
Rabi:- In the next year’s Manikchand Filmfare award, surely, this film will get too many awards.
Arindam:- Dhaath! Hrithik is the Kartik of Bollywood. He is more a dancer rather than an actor. Hrithik Roshan can surely challenge Prabhu Deva and Javed Jaffri but he has to go a long way to compete with Amitabh Bacchan and those Khans of Bollywood.
Bhanu:- Mrs. Mukherjee is coming to take our Maths Class. Now, stop talking.
Mrs. Mukherjee (while entering inside the classroom):- Good afternoon, students.
Students of Class X A:- Good afternoon, madam.
Mrs. Mukherjee:- Today, I will discuss about some important sums but please don’t regard these sums as your suggestive questions for the Madhyamik Exam. In Maths subject, there can be no suggestions. Take out your Maths copies please. I am now dividing this class into two groups. The right hand benchers are Group A and the left hand benchers are Group B. Whatever sum I will give, you have to solve it in your Maths copy with all the valid steps. If you skip any valid steps in the sum, then 1 mark will be deducted even if you get the right answer for that sum. Is it clear? Whosoever will give the right answer for the sums; I will check his or her Maths copy and then provide the points to his or her respective group. Ok! Are you all ready?
Students of Class X A:- Yes, madam!
Mrs. Mukherjee:- 1st sum for Group A. ‘If the price of petrol be increased by 10%, then by how much percent must a car-owner reduce his petrol consumption so as not to increase his expenditure?’
Tamang (Group A):- 10%.
Mrs. Mukherjee:- Wrong answer. Is there anybody else to answer from Group A? No one! Now, Group B can answer it.
Raja (Group B):- Madam, the answer is 8.1% (approx).
Mrs. Mukherjee:- How is it coming to 8.1%? You have to prove it by doing the sum on the blackboard. Come out of your seat.
Raja (while writing the solved sum on the blackboard):- Let us assume that the price of petrol is 10 bucks per litre. So, for 10% increase, the price of the petrol will be 11 bucks per litre. Let us now assume that a car-owner incurs an expense of 100 bucks on petrol. So, earlier, he used 100/10=10 litres of petrol and now he is using 100/11=9.09 litres of petrol to keep the expense on petrol consumption at the same level. Therefore, he has reduced the petrol consumption by {(10-9.09)/10}*100= 8.1%.
Mrs. Mukherjee:- All the mathematical steps are absolutely correct. Can anyone spot out the silly mistake in this sum?
Tiya:- Madam, the answer will be 9.1%. The subtraction is wrong.
Mrs. Mukherjee:- Exactly! See the fun! For doing such silly mistakes, you will get a big zero. After giving the Maths exam in Madyamik Examination, many students come out of the examination hall and declare publicly that they are going to get 100 out of 100 in it. But, when the results get declared, those students get 85 or 90 marks out of 100. Where do they go wrong actually?  They do some silly mistakes even in very easy sums. That’s why; I suggest all of you to finish solving all the sums in an exam, 15 minutes before the commencement of the exam. Within that 15 minutes, go for a revision of all the sums that you have solved to find out the silly mistakes. Ok! Now the sum for Group B.
Jahar:- Madam, the bell has rung.
Mrs. Mukherjee:- Oh! The bell has rung. A 45 minutes class passes away so quickly. I surely need to take some extra classes on Maths after the winter vacation. Some students of this class are very poor in Maths. They need to do more practice to come out of the fear psychosis towards Maths. Anyway, in the next class, I will discuss about plotting of Algebraic linear Equations in Graphical form in a Graph paper. In Additional Maths syllabus, plotting of parabola and hyperbola is there, but, in the Main Maths paper, you have to plot straight lines only on the Graph paper to find out the intersecting co-ordinates of the two straight lines.

Mr. Joardar (Inspector-In-Charge of Bhawanipore Police Station):- Hello! Mr. Roland!
Mr. Roland (Principal of Saint Sebastian School):- Hello! Yeah! I am Mr. Roland. Who is on the line?
Mr. Joardar:- Good afternoon, Mr. Roland. I am Inspector Joardar calling from the Bhawanipore Police Station.
Mr. Roland:- Oh! Inspector Joardar, how are you? I hope that everything is fine.
Mr. Joardar:- Yeah! Yeah! Everything is fine. I just called you up because a person who is the father of an 18 year old married girl has lodged an FIR against a student of your school.
Mr. Roland:- What! He has filed a complaint for what reason. What’s the name of that student?
Mr. Joardar:- Mr. Roland, everything can’t be said in details in a telephonic conversation. I want you to come here and bail out that student by writing an application that the student bears a moral character and his conduct of behavior has always been good in your school. I was about to call up his parents but he requested me to call you. So, are you coming to rescue that student of your school?
Mr. Roland:- Legally, I am not bound to deal in such cases, but, as a human being cum caring Principal of this school, I cannot ignore these cases also. I will be there at Bhawanipore Police Station within half an hour or so.
***********************************************************************
Joseph:- ‘Main Sajal badnaam…oh main chala…main chala…’
Ganga:- Eh! Your lyrics are wrong. It will be, ‘Main Sayar badnaam…’
Joseph:- Ha ha ha…I think that you have not got the breaking news of this school yet.
Ganga:- What! Breaking News! What breaking news?
*********************************************************************
Mrs. Kundu:- In my opinion, Sajal should be rusticated from this school immediately.
Mrs. Roy:- Yeah! Of course! Such a disgusting fellow! Sir, just rusticate him.
Mr. Roland:- Has Sajal committed any crime? Has he raped or murdered anyone?
Mrs. Mukherjee:- No, but, it is a scandal for our school.
Mr. Bairagi:- It is also a record for our school. In the history of Saint Sebastian School, a class X student of this school has never got married. Just throw him out of this school.
Mr. Roland:- Sajal’s father-in-law lodged an FIR by stating that Sajal has forcefully married Sabitri. At the Bhawanipore Police Station, Sabitri confessed in front of the Policemen that she and Sajal were in love relationship for past 6 months. As Sabitri became pregnant in that relationship, Sabitri blackmailed Sajal to marry her as early as possible to avoid the social stigma. But, still, as per the formalities, I have to bail out Sajal by giving a character certificate of him and some money to the Police Inspector. Sajal is now 17 years old and Sabitri is 18 years old. Sajal’s father has not complained about the marriage. Sabitri’s father can file no further cases against her as Sabitri is 18 years old. As an adult, a girl can marry any person of her wish. In that case, her parents have no right to interfere in it. Had Sajal refused to marry Sabitri, then it would have been a real scandal.
Shiela Madam:- Sabitri could have easily gone for abortion. There are so many nursing homes here and there like mushrooms who are attending several abortion cases every day.
Mr. Richards:- It was too late for Sabitri to go for abortion. Moreover, why a girl will go for an abortion, when he is going to give birth to a baby as a symbol of her love story?
Mrs. Amma:- Mr. Richards, this is real life, not a story of an English novel.
Mr. Roland:- Look! Before commenting on it, you have to understand the family background of Sabitri. She stopped going to school after Class VIII due to poverty. Her father is a rickshaw-puller and her mother works as a maid-servant in many houses of the locality. Sabitri’s father already promised to his friend in his colony area that Sabitri will surely become the wife of his friend’s son who is a physically handicapped person. For that purpose, Sabitri’s drunkard father also took some money from his friend. But, Sabitri changed the entire plan by becoming pregnant before her marriage and then married Sajal. Sajal is just a family man now. Nowhere is it written that a family man cannot study in a Convent School.
Subir Sir:- But, Sir! People will laugh at our school if we don’t rusticate Sajal.
Mr. Roland:- No, rather they will laugh at us, if we rusticate Sajal for this reason. Sajal will stay as a student of our school. The meeting is over now. We don’t need to do any discussions further on this issue.
***********************************************************************
Sajal:- May I come in, Sir?
Mr. Roland:- Yeah! Come in.
Sajal:- Actually, you called me to meet you.
Mr. Roland:- Yeah! I called you here to know about your preparation for the Madhyamik Exam. How is your preparation going on?
Sajal:- Sir, I am planning to stop my studies. I may not appear in the Madhyamik Exam also.
Mr. Roland:- Don’t be a fool, Sajal. Almost all the teachers in this school were telling me to rusticate you, but, I defended on your behalf and now you are saying that you don’t want to study anymore. Oh! That’s so ridiculous!
Sajal:- I will always be grateful to you, Sir. You have done so much for me. This school is really lucky to get such a caring Principal like you. But, Sir, even if I have done well in the Test Exam, all the teachers of this school will intentionally fail me in many subjects by giving very less marks. So, automatically, I will not be allowed to sit for the Madhyamik Exam. This is India. In India, when a person gets involved in a scandal, almost all the people of the entire Indian society become his enemies.
Mr. Roland:- When you know so many things about scandals and the ruthless Indian society, then you could have refrained yourselves from committing such a mistake. Had you gone for a protected sexual intercourse, both you and Sabitri would have not fallen in such a situation.
Sajal:- It was just an accident, Sir!
Mr. Roland:- In our times, we also fell in love in our school or college days. But, in those days, we used to think of sweet romance only. We always had a mindset that a person should have sexual intercourse only after getting married. But, nowadays, look at your generation. A person gets attracted to another person and then they want to have sexual intercourses and after that the concepts of love and romance automatically fades away. Sex is like a fast food. To have a healthy and secure love relationship, you have to focus more on love, faithfulness and romance. Anyway, time is irreversible. The mistakes that you have committed in life cannot be rectified again by going back to that same time. But, surely, we can do the damage control as much as we can. Don’t stop studying. Personally, I will do a scrutiny of all your answer sheets of the Test Exam to check whether any teacher is intentionally giving you lesser marks or not. In today’s competitive world, if you are not a Class X pass student, then the society considers you as an illiterate person even if you know how to write your name in English or your native language.  So, at least, appear for the Madhyamik Exam and pass it with good marks.  By the way, what’s your plan after Class X? You will study Science or Commerce?
Sajal:-  Sir, my parents gave birth to three sons. My eldest brother died in blood cancer and my elder brother died in a road accident. My dad is already a retired person. The pension from CSTC is not enough for my dad to run our family. My mom is a home-maker cum Asthma patient. So, do I have any choice now? I am planning to open up a telephone booth cum Photocopy shop and a stationary store with whatever little savings my father has. Sabitri is good in handicrafts. Maybe, she can also earn something out of it for our family. Anyway, Sir, I will try my level best to do well in the Madhyamik Exam.
Mr. Roland:- I wish you best of luck for the Madhyamik Exam. You can go now. See you later.
*************************************************************************
Mainak:- We have not done so badly in the Test Results. No one has failed in any subject in this Test Exam. That’s a very good news.
Prakash:- Have you noticed one thing? All the students who have taken Additional Maths are having more than 70% in aggregate total in this Test Exam. The lowest score in Additional Maths in this Test Exam is 79. So, what does it prove? If we get letter marks in Additional Maths in the Madhyamik Exam, then we have an outright chance to get Star marks (75% in aggregate total) even if we do badly in one of our main subjects of Science Group.
Bhanu:- Guys! Please keep quiet. Mr. Richards is coming towards our classroom to announce about something.
Mr. Richards:- Good afternoon everyone! Please be seated. Roland Sir is busy in his work schedules. So, he told me to make an announcement to all the students of Class X. From day after tomorrow, i.e. on 19th December, we are going to have a winter vacation till 15th January. On 1st January, all the teachers who teach Class X students along with me and Mr. Roland have decided to take all the Class X students to the Millennium Park on 1st January 2000. The Millennium Park, beside the Hooghly River will be opened for all for the first time on the 1st day of the 21st Century. You don’t have to pay anything. We will be taking you there for free of cost.
Students of Class X A:- Hurrah!
***********************************************************************
Santa Claus:- Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells! Jingle all the way! This Santa is dancing for the last time in his school days…
A junior student of Class III:- Santa dada…why are you singing that you are dancing for the last time as a Santa Claus in your school life?
Santa Claus:- Because I am in Class X now. After a few months, I will have no school life, dear.
A junior student of Class IV:-Oh! You are feeling sorry for that. We always dream when we will grow up and pass out of this school. Who the hell wants to come to school with such a heavy school bag at the back!
Santa Claus:- When we were at your age, we also used to think like that. But, after reaching at Class X, we are feeling that we were having our Golden days in our junior classes only. Take these toffees. Don’t grow up. Always remain a kid mentally. Then only, you can enjoy your life, no matter wherever you are.
A junior student of Class III:- Wow! You are a philosophical Santa Claus!
A junior student of Class IV:- Thanks for lovely toffees and great philosophical suggestions. Merry Christmas!
Santa Claus:- Merry Christmas.
*******************************************************************
Raqeeb:- Wow! This Vanilla Cake is tasty.
Rihanna:- Full credit goes to my mom. My mom knows that you always like the Vanilla taste. That’s why; she created a special Vanilla Cake especially for you.
Raqeeb:- Thanks a lot!
Arindam:- Ehe! Erokom korley kintu amra khelbo naa…Why Raqeeb will only eat such a special Vanilla Cake? Santa Claus should share some pieces of that Vanilla Cake with us. We will also share some pieces of chocolate cake with him.
Raqeeb:- Ha ha ha…Oho! Yes! We should share cakes with each other.
Tamang:- Hey Raqeeb, how was your day as a Santa Claus on 18th December?
Raqeeb:- Yeah! Good one! Two little boys made me somewhat emotional. Those boys want to grow up fast to pass out from this school.
Chinmoy:- Really, time has passed like anything. Many things have changed but the ambience of the Christmas party at Rihanna’s house is still the same. That same old Pine tree at the terrace, same style of lightings and same awesome cakes!
Joseph:- This is our last Christmas party at Rihanna’s house.
Rihanna:- Why? Why this is the last party? We will be passing out of Saint Sebastian School. That does not mean that our friendship ends after our school life. You people will also come in our next Christmas party.
Arindam:- It is easier said than done. After passing out from this school, everyone will enroll in colleges. There, everyone will have new friends, new friends circle. So, there is no guarantee that the bond of our friendship will remain at the same level as it is today.
Rihanna (in an excited mode):- No, I don’t agree to it. You all have to come to my house in the Christmas party next year.
Tamang:- Yeah! Yeah! Everyone will come next year. Don’t worry about it. Now, come on, let us dance.
Srabanti:- Hey, guys! When are our special classes after the winter vacation? I forgot to see the notice board on 18th December.
Chinmoy:- We have special classes on 16th, 18th, 20th 22nd  and 24th January.
Raqeeb:- And our farewell party is on 2nd February.
*******************************************************************
Bidisha:- Hello! Arindam! Wish you a very Happy New Year.
Arindam:- Oho! Happy New Year to you too! It is exactly 12 AM now. Wow! You have wished me at the right time.
Bidisha:- So, How is life going out there?
Arindam:- Nothing as such. Just studying and studying. I have got 73% marks in Test Exam. Targeting to get 80% marks in Madhyamik Exam.
Bidisha:- Yeah! Study hard! Hey, are you watching the TV right now? A program is going on where A.R.Rahaman is just rocking with his latest song, ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam…Vande Mataram…’
Arindam:- That’s a gift from A.R.Rahaman to all the Indians on this 21st Century.
Bidisha:- So, what’s your plan on the 1st day of the 21st Century?
Arindam:- Nothing as such. We will go to Millennium Park tomorrow. You could have visited Kolkata on this winter vacation.
Bidisha:- No, dear! I have to study here. I cannot bunk my coaching classes to spend some good time in Kolkata. The day before yesterday, we had a farewell party. Almost everyone was crying except me.
Arindam:- What’s there to cry in it? By the way, being a girl, how come you have not cried on a farewell party?
Bidisha:- I cried a lot on my last day in Saint Sebastian School. Maybe, I am studying in a reputed school in New Delhi, but, my heart is still there in that Saint Sebastian School.
Arindam:- He he he…have I stolen your heart?
Bidisha:- Idiot! What an idiotic question! I am missing you, dear! Mmmuaah!
Arindam:- I don’t like to accept kisses over the telephone line.
Bidisha:- Hee hee hee…but I do accept telephonic kisses.
Arindam:- Mmmuaah…I love you, dear.
Bidisha:- I also don’t hate you. I love you too, dear…Mmmuaah…Good night and take care.
Arindam:- Same to you, dear. Good night.
*******************************************************************
Satya:- Wow! We really like this new Millennium Park. Very soon, it will become a very romantic zone for the love-birds.
Kanchan:- ‘O nodire ekti katha sudhai sudhu tomaare…balo kothay tomar desh…tomar nei ki cholar sesh…O nodire…’
Binodini:- Babah! Kanchan! What happened! You have become so romantic after seeing this romantic Hooghly River. Thank God! You have no girlfriend; otherwise, you would have become more romantic.
Dolui:- Who said that Kanchan has no girlfriend! His girlfriend stays in Uttarpara of Howrah district.
Nonigopal:- The Howrah district is on that side of this Hooghly River. ‘Oi kule tumi…ar ei kule ami…maajkhane nodi oi boye chole jaaye..’
Ganga:- Baah! Baah! Toraa toh ekdum dilkush kore dicchish be…’O pare thakbo aami…tumi roibe e paare…sudhu amar du chokh bhore dekhbo tomaare…’
Santu:- Ganga daa, can you spot those decorated boats on the Hooghly River? I have heard that the love-birds give 200 bucks to the boatman to go inside that small hut on the boat to spend some romantic time for 2 to 3 hours.
Ganga:- Oho! Is it so! Then, I will surely bring Anjana with me one day to spend some lovely time on that boat.
Sudeshna:- Dhaath! You people always have nuisance value in your mind. Someone rightly said long time ago that men will be men.
Santu:- Ok! Ok! Let us change the topic. Look at Indranil! He is sitting beside a little boy, a beggar actually.
Arindam:- That little boy is playing the flute and everyone is throwing 1 rupee or 50 paise coin at him. But, why, Indranil is sitting idle on that bench and listening to that flute with full concentration. Come on, let’s go there.
Dolui:- Oye! Indra, if you want a flute, we will buy one for you. There is no need to sit idle here in this beautiful Millennium Park. We are yet to explore the entire park.
Indranil:- Please don’t disturb me. Just listen to the sound of that flute. This little child has a talent, though he is just a beggar. Already, he has played almost 15 different types of music through flutes only. He has three types of flutes with him. He is playing each flute in different style. Now, I understand why Radha used to run towards Lord Krishna after hearing the music of flute. The music of flute is too romantic to attract you.
Raghav (whispering at Gurcharan):- I think that Indranil has gone mad!
Gurcharan:- No, I don’t think so! Really, the music of flute is too good. Let us give 1 rupee each to this little boy. He deserves it.
Indranil:- Guys! There is a good news! I forgot to tell you about that. Sorry for that! The Cricket Team of Saint Sebastian School is in the final again.
Hardayal:- What is so special about it? It is not the first time that our school cricket team has reached the final of Inter-School Cricket Competition.
Indranil:- Maybe, it is not a great news for you, but, it is a big moment for me. We will play against the Assembly of God Church School Cricket Team.
Ganga:- Suniel, the leg spinner! Am I right? Go for the revenge, boy. It is a great news. If Saint Sebastian School wins the final match, I will give whatever treat you want, Indranil.
Revathi:- Ha ha ha... Indranil, I still remember that last year, you were feeling too depressed after losing the match against Assembly of God Church School Team. Have belief in yourself and your teammates. You will surely win it. This time, the Cup will surely come to Saint Sebastian School. But, when is the final match?
Arindam:- As per the notice board of our Saint Sebastian School, the final match is at Cossipore ground on 19th January. We will surely go there to watch the match.
